Tonneau Cover Part 1

Your tonneau cover should last the lifetime of your truck, and like your truck, performing regular maintenance can help keep your truck bed cover in top condition for years to come. Along with our installation guides and videos, the Roll-N-Lock team has compiled a few maintenance tips for protecting your retractable truck bed cover.

Finding the Right Protectant

The heavy-duty, marine-grade vinyl material used in our tonneau covers was developed to withstand the harshest of conditions, but we recommend using a protectant to provide an extra layer of protection and ensure that your truck bed cover continues looking like the day you bought it. The 303 Aerospace Protectant included in every Roll-N-Lock box is recognized as one of the best vinyl protectants on the market. Unlike many protectants that leave greasy residues, 303 Aerospace Protectant dries to a clear matte finish without a trace of oil. And because it’s water-based, this protectant is safe to use on most parts of your truck.

Proper Application

303 Aerospace Protectant is safe to use on any surface of your Roll N Lock cover. In fact, it can be used as a protectant against the elements, cleaner for removing dirt, and lubricant to keep your cover retracting smoothly. We recommend applying the protectant each time you wash your vehicle. Unlike other, more fragile covers, there’s no need to worry about scratching the durable vinyl surface. Just spray on the protectant and wipe it down with a paper towel or cloth. While cleaning the surface of your cover, you may also spray protectant into the tracks on either side of the bed and wipe down the interior surfaces of the tracks to remove dirt and grime. This will keep the tracks clear and prevent debris from slowing down the operation of your cover.

Things to Avoid

Make sure you use the correct protectant for your cover, as Silicone based products like Armor All can deteriorate the adhesives used in a Roll N Lock truck bed cover.
